The 2030 World Cup is underway: "We want to show the world the Spain of the 21st century."

The 2030 World Cup, mired in controversy over the choice of venues, had a crucial meeting on Tuesday, with the constituent meeting of the Interministerial Commission that must coordinate its organization with the intervention of the Government. Pilar Alegría , Minister of Education, Vocational Training, and Sports, chaired the meeting, which brought together political, sports, and business representatives. In her words, the meeting was "a transcendent moment for what will be the largest sporting event in our country since the Barcelona Games."

The 15 ministries that the government will use to address the security, mobility, sustainability, and logistics challenges, among others, presented by an event of this nature, are represented on the established body. Not surprisingly, organizing the World Cup will require a massive deployment of public, technical, and human resources.

The Interministerial Commission will carry out its work through the various working groups it creates. These groups will include a representative from the world football governing body, as well as the presidents of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Rafael Louzán ; the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco ; and the Spanish Paralympic Committee, Alberto Durán . All three attended the constitutive meeting held yesterday at the CSD.

Waiting for the champions

Former national team coaches José Antonio Camacho and Vicente del Bosque were also present. Some of the players who won the World Cup in 2010 will be added to the team in upcoming meetings.

Representing the Autonomous Communities were Berni Álvarez , Minister of Sports of the Generalitat of Catalonia, and Isabel Sánchez, Secretary General for Sports of the Regional Government of Andalusia. Also present were Antonio Garamendi , President of the CEOE (General Council of the Workers' Union of Catalonia), and representatives of Cristina Estévez from the UGT (General Union of Workers' Unions of Catalonia), and Armando Recio from the CCOO (Working Council of Workers' Unions of the Workers' Union ...

The Interministerial Commission will lead dialogue with the governments of Portugal and Morocco, with whom Spain shares the hosting of the World Cup. It will also be responsible for fostering public-private collaboration and promoting tournament-related activities.

"This event goes beyond the strictly sporting sphere. It represents an extraordinary opportunity to transform, inspire, unite, and show the world the Spain of the 21st century. We are an open, modern, diverse, innovative country deeply committed to the values of equality and integration, to sustainability and human rights; we also have the experience, capacity, and will to take on this challenge with a vision," emphasized Alegría, accompanied by the Secretary of State for Sport, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes , who is also Vice President of the new Commission.
